Before and After shots of a cottage remodel in @ca Before and After shots of a cottage remodel in @carmelbythesea. I love rethinking floor plans to take advantage of wasted space. In this case we opened up the kitchen and added a beautiful bar with more storage for the broom, vacuum etc.
I always start with a floor plan so that I can look at the space from the top down. I take out the existing cabinetry and start from scratch- being thoughtful about how the client wants to use the space. For this kitchen, they wanted more light and storage, in addition to more seating and a convenient place to mix drinks for friends. We accomplished it all with some creative planning and then layered on the beautiful finishes. 👍 ☺️ #tutorialtuesday #kitchenremodel #kitchenbar #luxdesign #cottagedesign #coastaldecor
#DesignTutorialTuesday Coffee Table Style Tips. Gr #DesignTutorialTuesday Coffee Table Style Tips. Ground collections with a tray (interesting ones can always be found at flea markets). Stack coffee table books in 3s or 5s with the largest at the bottom. Find books that you love and want to flip through! Add in flowers or a green plant, and a bowl or catch all with a found object, picture frame, candle or interesting bud vases. Layer heights and don’t over clutter. 👍♥️ #noellemicekinteriors #interiordesign #interiorstyling #carmelbythesea #bayareadesigner #traditionalhome #decor
One of my major passions is to highlight the work One of my major passions is to highlight the work of incredible artisans like @jbhww. Their talented team and I collaborated to design and build this stunning breakfront for my client’s living room. My passion stems from 2 things, 1. The number of artisans that have the skills to make quality, lasting, beautiful furniture is dwindling 2. The consumer’s reliance on Fast Furniture that is of poor quality and ends up in landfills is at a crisis level. I want to encourage young creative people to enter the varied fields of custom furnishings, but in order to do that we need to educate the consumer about the value and sustainability of investing in locally made, hand crafted furnishings. Does the initial investment in custom made furniture cost more? Yes. Over the long run, does it make sense to buy new cheaply made but expensive for the quality furniture every 5 years that ends up in landfills? No. Interesting Washington Post Article that addresses the fast furniture crisis… Link in Bio #sustainability #customdesign #noellemicekinteriors #luxedesign #traditionalhome
